No Hacks, Just Work
The only easy day was yesterday…
There are many questions that run through our head when we want to make changes in our life.
What are the pros and cons?
Do these changes align with who I want to be?
Do I have the proper support around me to be successful?
What do I do first?
With technology at our fingertips, our thoughts and opinions fly around at the speed of light and most of our questions can be answered in a matter of seconds. It makes things, dare I say, easy.
The problem is that life is not easy. While joy and contentment are attainable, it can be a serious grind at times. Unforgiving. Sometimes even punishing.
So, we search for some motivation. Something that will drive us forward and keep us going. The problem is that our understanding of motivation is flawed. A lot of us believe that we need to feel a certain way before we do it. But that’s not how life works.
How many days do you feel like not doing anything? I experience that one quite a bit.
Does life stop because you don’t feel up to it today? Of course not.
This is why almost 80% of people who start a fitness program or join a gym quit after five months. Motivation, on its own, is fleeting.
You need two other things in this recipe for success – a WHY and discipline.
Knowing WHY you are doing something is the most important. It is your path. No one knows this except you. Figuring it out requires being honest with yourself about who you really are.
Discipline is second, because when you know your WHY you can make the choices and develop the habits to achieve it.
Think of it like this…
You are going on a trip to your dream destination. This is your WHY.
To get where you’re going, you need to 1) pack your bags, 2) load up the car, 3) get in the car, 4) turn on the ignition, 5) put the car in drive, 6) release the brake and 7) step on the gas. These are the disciplines you’ve developed to get to your dream destination or more simply put…habits.
Motivation is keeping your foot on the gas. As you move along and get closer to your destination, it gets easier to keep going.
Yeah, you may get a flat tire, or the engine may overheat along the way. While those things can be frustrating and annoying, they are also temporary and fixable. You handle them, get back in the car, turn it on and keep going.
Our goal at Eastwood Strength is to help you develop the habits that will lead you to a better, well-rounded you. There are no shortcuts. There are no hacks. There is just work…and it’s hard.
If that scares you, it should. And that’s a good thing because overcoming fear and challenges build strength.
And while the questions I listed in the beginning are important for your journey, the most important one is this one:
Can I do this?
The answer to that question is simply, “Yes, you can.”
You make the choice. You develop the habits. You get stronger. And ultimately…you change you.

Client Testimonials
If you’re looking for a trainer who can push you when you need to be pushed, listen to you when you need to be heard, motivate you when all you want to do is crawl into bed, look no further. Steve is the real deal. If you’re serious about changing your workout and your life I highly recommend training with “The Beastwood.”
Steve has been a great trainer and mentor throughout the 12-week training process. I have nothing but good things to say about my experience. He checks in at least once a week to see how you’re doing, makes sure that there is a plan of attack before starting the training and has been flexible with the workout schedule whenever there was a issue. He is great at fixing and critiquing lifts to make sure you’re doing them correctly while offering great recommendations on how to progress with an exercise. He pushes you to do your best and beyond what you think you can achieve.
All in all, I’d definitely recommend Steve for anyone who is looking to either start their workout journey or would like to add to their workout experience in a positive way!
Steve is knowledgeable and efficient. He was able to identify three key weaknesses in my squat that were ultimately causing me pain. He provided me with exercises to strengthen areas of weakness and stretches to increase my mobility. I am now able to squat without pain! I would highly recommend Steve to anyone I know!
I did a 3-month, in-person training program with Steve. We met 5 days each week and my three major lifts improved dramatically. I added 50lbs to my squat, 60lbs to my deadlift and 25lbs to my bench. I also gained muscle and lost fat in a controlled fashion while drastically improving my mobility. Most importantly, he taught me proper form coupled with explanations about why the movement was important.
Outside of training, we developed a strong friendship and Steve poured into me with the wisdom and experience he has gained over his life. To sum it up, Steve is REAL and AUTHENTIC. He will ask you challenging questions to help you grow and think about things in a different, yet positive, way. His philosophy about strengthening the connection between the mind, heart, soul, and body is something that I believe in.
We trained with Steve and absolutely loved it! As two people who had never trained or strategically lifted before, we were intimidated by all the things we didn’t know. Steve made it simple and tangible. We both lost weight, lowered our body fat percentage, and hit PRs we didn’t even think were possible. Thanks to Steve, we’re still running after healthy habits and are seeing progress in the gym to this day!
I decided to sign up for personal training with Steve Eastwood after booking a big adventure backpacking trip climbing Half Done in Yosemite, and I’m so glad I did! Steve was simply the best – he was so invested in my backpacking goal, created custom workouts to target the muscles I needed to strengthen to be successful on the trail, and challenged and motivated me weekly to continually improve. Steve was patient as I learned new exercises and machines I’d been too nervous to try on my own. After a practice backpacking trip a few months into training, he took the time to check in and adjust our workouts based on my feedback. I felt like I had a true accountability partner, coach, and support system rolled into one. With his guidance, I was able to successfully backpack, climb steel cables up a rock face, and experience an amazing adventure I’ll cherish!
Steve Eastwood is the best trainer. He is patient and cares about his clients goals. He takes time to understand his clients and what they are trying to achieve. I could not be more happy with having him as my trainer. It’s never a dull moment when we train and that speaks volumes.
I have been training with Steven Eastwood for the last 12 weeks and I consider him a great trainer. He goes beyond what is expected to help you succeed.
Steve is an amazing trainer, very supportive and loves to push me through the pain. I enjoy every workout session with new challenges to keep workouts more intense.
Steve Eastwood is a fantastic trainer! He’s extremely knowledgeable and easy to work with. I’ve seen amazing results in just a few weeks.
